DHS has issued an RFI under the auspices of the EAGLE Next Generation (Next Gen) Program that focuses on effectively and efficiently addressing DHS’s diverse IT service needs. This RFI supports the Department’s efforts towards balancing the use of existing GWACs in conjunction with the creation of a portfolio of IT services contract vehicles with a specialized, targeted scope. The scope of this RFI includes two main components:
Modernizing and migrating the infrastructure and applications in Data Center 2, mainly to commercial CSPs but in some cases to other Data Centers including hybrid or private Clouds.
Optimization and management of the infrastructure and applications in Data Center 1, and potentially other government-owned anchor point facilities, including supporting managed services; and hybrid and private cloud-related services.
DHS recognizes that these two components are distinct, yet overlapping. Further, the interconnected nature of this activity with other efforts, such as the modernization of OneNet and the transition to Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS), point to potential to leverage information provided towards strategies, approaches, solutions, and procurements aimed more broadly across the DHS enterprise.
DHS believes a hybrid (traditional on-premises, cloud) IT, multi-cloud (multiple Infrastructure as a Service [IaaS], Platform as a Service [PaaS], and Software as a Service [SaaS] providers) early adopters across the Department as pathfinders. We further recognize the need to evolve our enterprise security model, policy, and architecture to remove barriers and support our modernization and migration to the Cloud.
