DOJ DEA awards contract for Data Center Direct Cross-Connect


DEA has awarded a contract to Equinix, Inc. to fill its requirement for direct and secure cross-connect services for access to the DOJ Justice Cloud Optimized Trusted Internet Connectivity (TIC) Services public cloud providers; government cloud providers – including Microsoft Azure Government (MAG) and Amazon Web Services (AWS)GovCloud; Internet Service  Providers; and fiber optic carriers, from  its data center in Sterling, VA. Another portion of the requirement includes the establishment of a Disaster Recovery (DR) capability at a second location for it mission critical systems. A separate DR site will provide hosting services for duplicate systems that can be brought online in the event that primary systems are compromised.

The period of performance is for 12-months and the estimated value for maintaining the current facility, establishing the DR system and leasing the space in both locations is $1.4M. There was no vendor interest for the original postings for this requirement, even though, another posting is anticipated to be made for this requirement.
