The DOL Wirtz Labor Library, has issued an RFQ for a Software as a Service (SaaS), Cloud-Based, new library management and discovery system and related migration and implementation services. The library currently uses SirsiDynix’s Symphony and Enterprise for its Integrated Library System (ILS) and Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC). These services are hosted and managed internally, and the library does pay an annual maintenance contract for continued access and support.
The library maintains a physical card catalog for many of its pre-1975 holdings and estimates that anywhere from 100,000-250,000 items are represented by these cards. The library plans on digitizing these records and ingesting them into its system at some future point. The general system requirements include:
- The vendor should provide an existing cloud-based SaaS system with unified library management and discovery functionalities. The library does not expect to maintain a second contract for its current or an additional vendor’s ILS and expects features such as cataloging, circulation, and reporting to be incorporated into the vendor’s proposed system.
- The system should be an existing one that is already available on the commercial market.
- The system should be hosted and managed by the vendor. The vendor’s response should outline any routine, or otherwise, system management responsibilities of DOL staff.
