FAA issues sources sought for Trajectory and Target Simulation Tool Screening Solicitation

The FAA’s Investment Planning and Analysis (IP&A) Organization (AFI-1) Operations Research group has issued an RFI for a general-purpose trajectory and target simulator software tool that provides a realistic analytical tool for evaluating the operational impacts of ATC/ATM systems. This 100% Small Business set-aside, fixed price contract supports the FAA’s IP&A Organization by providing a general-purpose, trajectory and target simulation software tool for use by the FAA in performing business cases requiring the analysis of aircraft operations. The tool must provide the following required (prime) capabilities:

  • Predict potential aircraft to-aircraft conflicts based on any kind of flight trajectory.
  • Model a “fast-time/real-time” situation display process based on historical data that shows flight progress against a map containing user-controlled geographic information, including airspace structures.
  • Adjust and optimize flight trajectories. Produce flight trajectory data for theoretical “what- if” scenarios
  • Develop post-mortem analysis application that can be used to assess events that occur within a flight…”

The period of performance includes one base year and four one-year option periods.
