“The RICS Application Modernization Project was implemented in 2014 to support critical RICS business units through the modernization of legacy applications. The scope of the Project was to transform legacy applications into secure, maintainable, applications that support RICS’ core mission. The Project is tasked with converting and migrating remaining legacy applications into secure, scalable web-based applications in centrally managed databases on a common SQL environment for easier maintenance. The ongoing effort also includes operations and maintenance support of all existing managed databases, systems and environments; building in efficiencies and enhancements; automating processes to minimize manual intervention; streamlining workflows; providing support for the current technical infrastructure and upgrades to hardware and software as necessary or mandated; providing and maintaining an archiving and reporting environment; implementing mandated security policies; implementing and maintaining required backup solutions; creating and maintaining application, user, process, and security documentation; and providing detailed training and knowledge transfer to select IRS employees on the specific applications and tools used to support development, operations and maintenance.”
