USDA Farm Service Agency CIO Darren Ash and NSF Deputy Assistant Director for Computer and Information Science and Engineering Dr. Erwin Gianchandani have been added to the Technology Modernization Board, a Federal body that evaluates project proposals submitted for funding in accordance with the Modernizing Government Technology (MGT) Act of 2018.
Ash and Gianchandani previously served as Alternate Board Members, but were elevated after former board member Maria Roat was named Deputy Federal CIO and became an Alternate Board Member, and the TMF Board changed from seven to eight voting members.
The TMF Board provides oversight of the Technology Modernization Fund, which could receive up to $1B in funding tied to the COVID-19 response in FY21. Since the TMF Fund was established in 2018, Federal agencies have been awarded $90M for seven IT projects.
In addition to Ash and Gianchandani, other members of the TMF Board include Federal CIO Suzette Kent (Chair); Anil Cheriyan, Director of Technology Transformation Service, GSA; Matthew Hartman, Associate Director of Cybersecurity Division, DHS CISA; Alex Loehr, Deputy Chief Technology Officer, NGIA; Rajive Mathur, CIO & Deputy Commissioner of Systems, SSA; and Charles Worthington, Chief Technology Officer, VA.
Roat and Federal CISO Grant Schneider serve as Alternate Board Members.
