USPTO selects firms to participate in the $2B BOSS Alternative Competition

G2X TAKE: Nearly a year after the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued an RFI seeking technical capability, along with innovative concepts, methodologies, and industry best practices to transform its legacy operations to the next generation, comes word that the Agency, in advance of a planned December award, has selected two dozen leading technology firms to participate in the BOSS Alternative Competition.

Included below is a synopsis of the information provided on beta.SAM. Read the full announcement here.

“The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has a requirement for Business Oriented Software Solutions (designated NAICS Code 541512) for a period of ten (10) years from date of award. The anticipated award date is December 30, 2020.”

This “requirement is being procured using the Alternative Competition Method, as described in the Patent and Trademark Office Acquisition Guidelines (PTAG).”

“In accordance with the PTAG, the USPTO publicized this requirement on August 19, 2019 through a Sources Sought notice (ACQ-19-1870) and the results allowed the agency to select a number of vendors that it considers are the most likely to successfully meet the agency’s needs.”
